I am creating a presentation I will be doing in October, but the free version only gives a week for the presentation to be open. The other plans don’t give a time table for how long it can be used. How long can I keep the event open?

If you’re only going to be using Slido in October, then you can just set your event dates for October. Event dates are essentially a window when participants can join the event via the event code, meaning that you can create your event outside of the event dates. We have a full explanation of event dates here:
If your actual event, i.e. the period of time when you need participants to join Slido and interact with it, is longer than a week, then you would need to get a paid plan. Paid plans allow events to run for up to a year. You can find information about paid plans here.
