What is an “event”; a meeting? Also, can an event run without it being live; if I just want to run a trivia or survey? In other words, the participants can log in anytime on their own after I activate or run the trivia in the morning?

A Slido event is basically a container for your polls and Q&A. Participants use an event code to join your event and participate in polls and Q&A. You will need to set event dates for the event and when these have passed, the event will expire which means that participants won’t be able to join the event and participate in polls.
You can run individual polls asynchronously by sharing the direct link.
