Question

What URLs does Slido for Powerpoint use?

Hello,

we use a proxy device for Internet access, does anyone know what urls the slido add on uses to connect?

We are able to connect to slido from any browser without any problems.

When we try to connect via powerpoint, it needs further authentication.

We have allowed https://powerpoint-addin.sli.do

Thanks

Hi Saima,

Thank you for your question!

Both the PowerPoint (Powerpnt.exe) and the Slido for Windows (Slido.exe) processes, including their forked/child processes (like CefSharp.exe) have to be able to connect and communicate over the following list of domains:

So, if you are using some kind of firewall or a proxy server, make sure that all domains and subdomains mentioned above are accessible. All firewall/proxy rules and exceptions have to be configured using the domain masks instead of entering the IP addresses - the Slido infrastructure uses dynamic IP addresses (depending on the region and changing over time).

Hope this helps, please let us know if you’ll have additional questions.

Hello,

Unfortunately we have a similar problem, we have to go over a proxy server (which is not under our control). When connecting to the internet (via a browser) we are prompted for our proxy credentials, but unfortunately this is not the case with sli.do/PowerPoint…
Some programs offer the possibility to add a proxy server and credentials in their configuration…

Hello,

We have a similar problem.

In the slido log I see this:

[13:56:31.513 INF] The addin is connected to Slido API through a proxy. (Proxy server address: "http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx:8012/"). (replaced real server by xxxxxx)
[13:56:32.184 ERR] Unable to create a new app instance on server. Missing proxy authentication (required scheme "BASIC realm="PROXY_INTERNET"").
System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (407) Proxy Authentication Required.
   at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.EndGetRequestStream(IAsyncResult asyncResult, TransportContext& context)
   at System.Net.Http.HttpClientHandler.GetRequestStreamCallback(IAsyncResult ar)

So the proxy is well detected by sli.do, but as it is a proxy with authentication, it does not work (in similar cases programs prompt for the login/pwd of the proxyserver)…

William
